Lockdown Caste Atrocities – Case 16

On 19th May, the 13-year old rape survivor was alone at her home. Her parents being agricultural labourers had gone to work on the farm. Being hot summer, she thought of giving water to the thirsty birds outside her house, so she came outside. The two accused came in the car and stood near to her house and asked about her parents. She informed them that they are on the farm. One of the accused grabbed the survivor and closed her mouth with his hands and pushed her in the car. They took the girl in a quiet place and made her unconscious by forcing her to smell something. When she was in a semi conscious state, she was raped by both the accused. After raping her, they threw the girl roadside close to her house. When she gained consciousness, she came home crying. The girl informed her mother about the rape.

The case was reported in the Police Station on the 25th May 2020 at Parbatsar Police Station. The Police were reluctant in registering the FIR. After the phone call by the Dalit woman Human rights defender, the case got registered. Medical examination of the survivor was done and her statement was registered. After seven days of registering of the FIR, both the accused were arrested.

Both of the accused at present are in judicial custody. The chairperson of State Child rights protection Commission Sangita Beniwal has intervened in this case and she has also written to the district Collector to take strict action in this case.
