Dalit Human Rights Defenders Network (DHRDNet) in collaboration with Public Bolti and Jhatkaa.org will be sending recommendations to the MPs in Tamil Nadu (Dr Thol Thirumaavalavan, Andimuthu Raja, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Jothimani Sennimalai and Dr. D. Ravi Kumar) and Gujarat (Dr. Kirit Solanki and Mr. Vinod Chavda), urging them to take the recommendations on their letterheads to the Prime Minister’s and the Chief Minister’s (of their states) offices.
These recommendations were drafted by Dalit leaders and scholars who are part of ‘Dalit Human Rights Defenders Network’ (DHRDNet) and other like-minded coalitions.
The Dalit community have been facing double marginalisation, as well as glaring social and economic disparity, which has been further illustrated by the Covid pandemic. With this, the community is also forced to fight the increasing number of caste and gender based atrocities and violence.
It is high time we take a step toward annihilating caste and caste based atrocities!
